Ostal, the contemporary custom farmhouse table

Pierre Dubourg, a designer from Toulouse, reinterprets the traditional farmhouse table, often found in inns, hence the name "Ostal," meaning "inn" in Catalan, while bringing modernity and design to it. This custom wood and metal table retains the warm and convivial spirit of the large tables of the past while adopting a clean, contemporary design. The metal footrest crossbar, both practical and aesthetic, adds an industrial touch to the design while ensuring stability and comfort. This combination of materials, between authenticity and minimalist modernity, gives this table a timeless design that suits all interior styles, contemporary or traditional.

A custom oak and metal table made in France

This custom table is made from high-quality French solid oak, except for the metal footrest crossbar, made of steel tubing. The entire manufacturing process takes place in France, in our workshops in Haute-Saône, and the color can be personalized according to your preferences. The solid oak top, with its generous thickness, guarantees great resistance and durability, while its profiled edges bring style, ergonomics, and visual lightness. The turned solid oak legs are slightly inclined to ensure optimal stability and a robust appearance. The design relies on traditional woodworking techniques, such as the through tenon and mortise joint, which connects the lower crossbar to the legs. As for the metal crossbar, it fits perfectly into a precise notch in the wood, a discreet and well-crafted assembly that reflects the attention to detail and excellence of this table.

This wood and metal table is made with a custom top ranging from 75 cm to 120 cm in width and 180 cm to 260 cm in length, while maintaining standard legs, which helps keep costs low.

• 180 cm tables (180 x 75 cm, 180 x 80 cm, 180 x 85 cm, 180 x 90 cm, 180 x 100 cm, 180 x 110 cm, 180 x 120 cm): These tables are perfect for seating 6 people (3 guests on each side). With widths up to 120 cm, they offer sufficient space for serving dishes while maintaining an ideal size for everyday meals or special occasions.
• 200 cm tables (200 x 75 cm, 200 x 80 cm, 200 x 85 cm, 200 x 90 cm, 200 x 100 cm, 200 x 110 cm, 200 x 120 cm): For those wanting a little more space, these tables comfortably fit 6 people and can seat up to 8 guests in a more compact arrangement. The extra width allows for better organization of accessories and dishes during meals.
• 220 cm tables (220 x 75 cm, 220 x 80 cm, 220 x 85 cm, 220 x 90 cm, 220 x 100 cm, 220 x 110 cm, 220 x 120 cm): Designed to seat 8 people, these tables offer ample space for convivial meals while maintaining an elegant and functional look.
• 240 cm tables (240 x 75 cm, 240 x 80 cm, 240 x 85 cm, 240 x 90 cm, 240 x 100 cm, 240 x 110 cm, 240 x 120 cm): Ideal for 8 guests comfortably, they can also seat up to 10 people in a more compact configuration. The width up to 120 cm offers great flexibility for arranging the space convivially.
• 260 cm tables (260 x 75 cm, 260 x 80 cm, 260 x 85 cm, 260 x 90 cm, 260 x 100 cm, 260 x 110 cm, 260 x 120 cm): These large tables provide enough space to seat 8 to 10 people with all the necessary comfort. Perfect for large receptions or group meals, the widths up to 120 cm allow for versatile and practical use daily.

We can also manufacture this table with other local wood species such as beech, ash, walnut, hornbeam, alder, maple... or with reclaimed materials or a stone top!

The footrest crossbar in metal in your choice of color

• Custom color: The metal crossbar of the Ostal table can be lacquered with a polymerized oven finish at 200°, ensuring exceptional durability. This finish is ideal for high-use environments such as restaurants, inns, guesthouses, or "contract" establishments. Just let us know your preferred RAL reference, and we will send you a quote. The extra cost ranges from 60 to 150 € per unit, with discounts for bulk orders. Contact us for more information on your professional projects.
• Gunmetal black: This standard finish is a black patina applied by hand, protected with rust-resistant oil and steel wax. The patina, with its natural color variations, is ideal for private use but less suited for intensive environments like bars or restaurants, or seaside areas due to the risk of oxidation.
• RAL 9005 black: The metal crossbar receives a polymerized oven lacquer finish at 200°, providing enhanced durability. Suitable for intensive use in places like restaurants or guesthouses, this finish is available at an additional cost of 42 € per unit, with volume discounts for large orders.
• RAL 9003 white: Similarly, the metal crossbar can be lacquered in white with a polymerized oven lacquer finish at 200°, ensuring high robustness. This finish is suitable for all intensive environments and is also available at an additional cost of 42 € per unit, with volume discounts depending on quantity.

Delivery and logistics options

Comme tous nos meubles, la table Ostal est livrée montée, mais reste démontable pour répondre aux contraintes logistiques et écologiques. Contrairement aux meubles en kit, nos pièces sont conçues avec une attention particulière à la qualité, suivant les techniques d’ébénisterie traditionnelle. Si l’accès à votre domicile est compliqué (couloir ou escalier étroit), nous pouvons expédier la table en pièces détachées. Le montage ne nécessite qu'une clé Allen, mais il est conseillé d’être deux pour porter le plateau en chêne massif. Si vous préférez, nous pouvons également organiser un service de montage à domicile, disponible sur devis, selon votre localisation et les conditions d’accès.
