Delavelle® is the Made in France furniture brand of Atelier Hugo Delavelle, a cabinetmaker specialising since 2009 in the design and manufacture of solid wood furniture and objects such as tables, chairs, stools, benches, armchairs and coffee tables. Our workshop is located in eastern France and houses all our activities: design, engineering, manufacturing, administrative and commercial management, storage and logistics. Our company has been awarded the EPV label (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant - Living Heritage Company) by the French government, which recognises French companies with excellent craftsmanship and industrial know-how. We offer these furnishing products for the home, but also for professionals who want to fit out a café, hotel, restaurant or business.
Exclusive design, eco-friendly conception and exceptional manufacturing and finishing quality are part of the brand's DNA. Our furniture is eco-designed, made from noble materials and features a clean, timeless and functional design. We perpetuate the skills of fine cabinetmaking, and our creations feature traditional joints such as mortise tenon and dovetail joints, as well as meticulous hand finishing. They are handcrafted in our workshop by our cabinetmakers, which means that each piece of furniture, whether one-off or mass-produced, is made from A to Z by the same craftsman or craftswomen. From the cutting of the wood to the finishing of the furniture, the cabinetmaker contributes his or her know-how and carries out permanent quality control to guarantee the highest quality cabinetry. Prior to manufacturing, the utmost care is given to design, either in-house or by an independent designer. The combination of cabinetmaking skills and design results in a style that is both authentic and resolutely contemporary.
The solid wood used in Delavelle® furniture has been the material par excellence by cabinetmakers since antiquity, but over time it has been replaced by panels made from particleboard and glue, which are more economical but polluting, often harmful and rarely sustainable. We have chosen natural solid wood for our furniture because it is a noble, natural, healthy, sustainable and renewable material. Our workshop is PEFC eco-certified, and we work with French wood from mainly regional forests, all of which are sustainably managed.
Design is not a style, it's a creative process used in industry, crafts, graphics, fashion and architecture. It enables the designer to create by considering the aesthetic aspect, as a criterion of value for the object of creation, in the same way as other criteria such as ergonomics, manufacturing cost, environmental impact, and so many other aspects. At Delavelle, design is either in-house or entrusted to independent designers, and takes into account as many criteria as possible, but is strongly influenced by the desire to minimize the environmental impact of our furniture while manufacturing it by hand in France. The result is sustainable collections with low environmental impact, clean lines, no frills, high quality craftsmanship and top-quality natural materials.
